THE PURE STRENGTH OFF-SEASON TRAINING PROCESS

Our Youth Performance Hockey Program is designed to develop young athletes (born 2011–2013) through a structured and systematic approach. Each player follows a progressive training model to ensure they gain strength, speed, mobility, and confidence while reducing injury risk.

 

STEP 1: ATHLETE ASSESSMENT & INTAKE

Before training begins, each athlete undergoes a comprehensive evaluation to establish a performance baseline and ensure their program aligns with their developmental stage. This includes:

  • Anthropometric measurements (height, weight, body composition)

  • Strength and power testing to gauge physical capabilities

  • Mobility and movement screening to assess functional movement patterns

  • Injury history review to address past or current limitations

This initial assessment allows us to tailor the program to meet each player’s needs and set a strong foundation for progress.

STEP 2: INTEGRATED PROGRAMMING & NUTRITIONAL GUIDANCE

Based on the assessment, each player is integrated into our proven training blueprint, customized for their age, skill level, and developmental goals. This structured plan ensures they receive the right exercises, progressions, and adaptations for optimal performance.

Key components include:

  • Strength and power development to build a strong, athletic foundation

  • Speed, agility, and conditioning drills designed for quickness and endurance

  • Mobility and flexibility work to improve movement efficiency and injury prevention

  • Injury prevention strategies to develop durability and reduce the risk of common hockey injuries

  • Nutritional advice and guidance to support performance, energy levels, and recovery

This well-rounded, high-performance system ensures that young athletes develop safely, effectively, and consistently throughout the off-season.

 

STEP 3: PROGRESSIVE PERIODIZATION & ON-ICE DEVELOPMENT

As the off-season progresses, training intensity and volume are strategically adjusted to align with the athlete’s growth and performance adaptations.

This includes:

  • Phased periodization to enhance strength, speed, endurance, and power in a structured manner

  • Ongoing assessments to track progress and refine programming

  • Hockey-specific adaptations to ensure off-ice strength translates effectively to on-ice performance

 

In addition to strength and conditioning, athletes participate in two on-ice sessions per week with professional coaches, focusing on:

  • Skating mechanics and edge work

  • Puck control, passing, and shooting

  • Game-like scenarios and decision-making drills

 

A shuttle service to the rink is available upon request, making it easier for families to manage their schedules while ensuring players get the most out of their training.

 

This proven off-season system allows young hockey players to develop strength, speed, confidence, and skills while ensuring they enter the next season stronger, faster, and fully prepared for competition.

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

The Pure Strength Academy Youth Off-Season Hockey Program is designed for elite hockey players born in 2011–2013 who are serious about developing their strength, speed, and on-ice skills. This program provides a structured, high-performance training experience where every athlete receives professional-level coaching and individualized attention to maximize their development.

Athletes are grouped based on age, training experience, and skill level to ensure a challenging yet supportive environment where they can progress at the right pace.

  • Training & Ice Schedule: Full Details at Registration

    • Off-ice & on-ice training: 3 days per week (Tuesday – Thursday)

    • Participants can register weekly or for the entire program

    • Limited spaces available—enrollment is capped to maintain exclusivity

Each player is assigned a dedicated training time, ensuring a structured and progressive approach throughout the off-season. The program also includes weekly on-ice skill development sessions, allowing athletes to seamlessly transition between strength training and hockey-specific skill work.

This program is designed for young athletes looking to build strength, improve speed, and develop on-ice confidence while laying the groundwork for long-term success in the game.

The Pure Strength Academy Youth Off-Season Hockey Program provides a comprehensive training system that develops strength, speed, agility, and on-ice skills while focusing on injury prevention, recovery, and proper nutrition. Each athlete trains in a structured, professional environment with access to expert coaching, customized programming, and specialized recovery services.

 

Strength & Conditioning

  • Three training sessions per week, focusing on strength, speed, agility, and coordination

  • Professionally designed programming emphasizing explosiveness, durability, and movement efficiency

  • Specialized training sessions incorporating outdoor hill sprints, track work, and competitive group training environments

Nutrition & Recovery Support

  • Age-appropriate nutrition guidance to support performance, energy levels, and recovery

  • Pre/post-workout snacks to optimize muscle repair and growth

  • On-site meal service available to help athletes fuel properly before and after training

Mobility & Wellness

Developing strong, mobile, and resilient athletes starts with proper movement, recovery, and lifestyle habits. Our program teaches young hockey players how to take care of their bodies both in and out of the gym to ensure they move better, recover faster, and stay injury-free.

  • Daily mobility and stretching routines to improve flexibility, posture, and movement efficiency

  • Education on sleep, hydration, and nutrition habits to support energy, recovery, and performance

  • Guidance on maintaining healthy routines outside of training to promote long-term athletic development

On-Ice Development & Skill Work

  • Three weekly on-ice skill sessions led by professional hockey coaches

  • Focus on skating technique, puck control, shooting, and game-situation drills

  • Shuttle service to the rink is available upon request for added convenience

Professional Coaching & High-Performance Environment

  • Expert coaching staff with experience developing young athletes for elite hockey performance
